Matthew Hanchett, DMD
Dr. Matthew Hanchett specializes in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama, and received his Bachelor of Science in zoology from Auburn University in 2002. In 2009, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. A general practice residency in hospital dentistry was completed at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2010, followed by an oral and maxillofacial surgery internship at West Virginia University Hospitals in 2011. Dr. Hanchett completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency through Banner University Medical Center – Phoenix in 2015.
Subsequently, Dr. Hanchett was selected for a highly prestigious pediatric cleft and craniomaxillofacial fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children’s Hospital. This fellowship is one of only two accredited fellowships of its kind in North America. Special emphasis was placed on the management of cleft and craniomaxillofacial patients through primary and secondary repair of their facial defects. These surgeries included but were not limited to neonatal distraction osteogenesis, cleft lip and palate repair, speech surgery, nasoalveolar cleft grafting, craniomaxillofacial orthognathics, cleft rhinoplasty, complex reconstruction and revision surgery, and pediatric pathology.
Dr. Hanchett is a diplomate (Board Certified) of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS), American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA), and American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). He has been asked to lecture locally and throughout the country on a myriad of topics. Dr. Hanchett has trained in multiple locations across the country, providing a unique and diverse perspective on patient care. He delivers the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery to include but not be limited to intravenous and general anesthesia, complex exodontia, implant planning and placement, bone grafting, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, reconstruction, and pathology. Dr. Hanchett provides his patients with the highest quality of care and uses the most advanced technologies the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery has to offer. When not in the office, he and his family can be found exploring the Arizona outdoors.
